Cape Cod, Martha's Vineyard and more!

We decided to go to Cape Cod last minute and ended up in this awesome little town called Hyannis Port. The night was cool and misty, and we were headed to the Black Cat Tavern, not only because I liked the name, but it also reminded me of the wonderful Spotted Cat Jazz Club in New Orleans. The place was humming, full of life and music, it's been so long since we have been able to enjoy a scene like this, we were grateful and happy.

The following day we jumped on a ferry to Martha's Vineyard Island! We rented a couple of bikes and we were off to the beach in Oak Bluffs, we biked a few miles to Edgartown, had lunch at the Seafood Shanty and after a few glasses of wine, we toodled our way back :-)

Before getting to upstate NY, we decided to stop in New Haven, CT for pizza at Frank Pepe's! Another great recommendation by "We Travel There". We had the special: White Clam Pizza! Delicious.

We spent our wedding anniversary in upstate NY, close to the Hudson River, surrounded by wineries and forrest. It's been 2 wonderful years for sure! We walked around the lake, and had dinner at a nice place near the marina in Newburgh.

We have had so many adventures so far, I can't wait to see what's next... We are truly living our lives, life is short!

We are in DC now, and we'll do some sightseeing. We are probably going to spend the weekend visiting museums. We were able to see my aunt Patty in Virginia, which filled my heart with joy. Her nephew owns Inca Social in Virginia, and we were fortunate to taste the chef's beautiful pieces of art. If you are in the area, we highly recommend it!

Note: I don't know if I ever disclosed the mechanics of how we choose the places we visit. So, here it is: except for Montana's Glacier National Park, we have been winging it. We have a general idea of the route we want, but the towns that we visit are picked based on distance to the water (any body of water will do), and convenience. My only request is that we do not drive more than 4 hours in a day. While on the road, we mostly listen to music, podcasts and books on Audible. We usually take a break to stretch and get gas, and to be perfectly honest, Mike does most of the driving.

I wanted to share some of favorite podcasts so far:

  • Girl, Get Your Helmet, with Nicole and Carla (They are best friends, and have loved each other unconditionally since they were kids). I love that show so much because they are real women talking about everything they want from sex to ghosts... it also reminds me of the long chats I have with my best friend Paula.

  • Life is Short, with Justin Long (Justin is so funny, he is an actor, writer, director. He talks about everything and bring pretty special guests to the show. We have actually listened to other podcasts and recently revisit movies that they have discussed in the show.

  • Mini Questions with Mini Driver (Love her so much! She has 7 questions she ask her guests, you just have to listen to the first show to get hooked)

  • We Travel There, with Lee Huffman (Thanks to Lee, we have visited several towns that we would have passed by. Now, as we are driving, I check to see if we are passing through a town that has been featured on his podcast. That way, we are sure to visit the best restaurants, pizza places and the local's favorite things to do in the town.

  • The Joe Rogan Experience do I need to describe this one?

Anyways, so far we have seen the west coast and the east coast... we were actually supposed to be in Costa Rica by now. No, we were supposed to be there 2 months ago! But, we are loving this experience so much, we won't stop until we see everything we want to see here. I have not taken as many pictures with my camera as I thought I would, we are mostly using our phones. At the beginning because it was so hot, I could not hike and carry my camera. Now, I just have to get back to it. So far this year, we have traveled quite a few miles, visited 3 countries... I like pictures better, so here is one from my Google maps:

If you have any more questions on our trip, how we travel or whatever pops in your mind, please write to us. We'll be happy to answer your questions.
