About Ileana Chase

I was born in Costa Rica where the land is rich and tropical, the people radiate with culture and as a result, I was born with kaleidoscope lenses for eyes.
I moved to the Bay Area 19 years ago, and since then I have carried my camera wherever I go because miracles happen in an instant and without notice.
I find life around me to be astonishing and in particular, people’s reactions to life, the space around them, nature, animal life and the atmosphere in general. I like to capture it all. I don’t consider myself a bystander, but a participant. I enjoy interacting with people and using nature as my backdrop.
From the austerity and suspense of the 35mm black and white, to the more bold, modern and multicolor digital camera, I am passionate about giving my protagonists an everlasting life that pops out of the photograph as if you were there yesterday, today and always. I love telling a story. 
For the past nine months, I have been traveling throughout the American Continent with my husband.  From kayaking in Glacier National Park to hiking Torres del Paine in Patagonia, we are on a quest to explore and learn about other cultures, and to keep alive our spirit of adventure.
